Vermont, August 2007
Mollie and I flew out to Vermont in August 2007. The first few days were spent in Burlington with Mollie's family. We were there to attend cousin Hans and Nicole's wedding. Many of us stayed at the same hotel at the corner of Battery and Cherry downtown, very close to the lake, several parks, and the Church Street marketplace (four-block walkway lined with cafes and shops), which made it convenient for breakfast or late-night swimming pool rendezvous. Burlington is a great town to visit, and is very walkable. The ceremony was held at the First Congregational Church just a block off Church Street, and the reception was held at the Burlington Country Club. The weather held for the ceremony and just long enough for everyone to give a bubble shower to the newly-married couple outside the church, but then the rain fell hard. Fortunately it cleared up again for pictures, and we were treated to a beautiful sunset. I didn't get too many pictures of the reception, so hopefully someone can share some with me. Monday, Mollie and her parents and I drove over to Eleanor and Bruce's house in Craftsbury, in Vermont's gorgeous Northeast Kingdom. We had a great lunch at the Craftsbury sculling center, a camp for rowers and families, and then Eleanor and Bruce showed Mollie's parents around their sugar shack. Mollie's parents left that afternoon, but we got to stay until Wednesday, and enjoyed hiking around the property, spreading some chip bark on a soggy hiking trail, doing some weed whacking, visiting a local sheep dairy, and enjoying great food. | |
