Rogue River 2007
Page 1 of 2. « Previous | [1] 2 | Next » My cousins Carrie and Joe are Rogue River regulars, and they invited Mollie and me along for a trip August 18-20, 2007. Also along for the ride were Mary and Greg from Vancouver and Katie and Scott from Eugene, and Kayla the golden retriever. As opposed to the 2002 Rogue trip that I organized, Joe and crew took care of all the details, so Mollie and I just showed up and started rafting. Day 1 was beautiful and hot. In the middle of the night, evening 1, a rainstorm rolled in, and it didn't let up until the middle of the day on day 2. Fortunately spirits were high, and this crew is prepared for anything--they brought a sun/rain canopy which helped keep folks and breakfast dry. Evening 2 was cloudy but dry, and Joe led the crew in rounds of Irish drinking songs, songs about pets, Talking Heads covers, and anything else we could throw at him, as the fire dancer faux fire crackled. We all managed to keep the top sides of the rafts up through the rapids, with good runs through Blossom Bar and the Rainie fish ladder (Scott ran the middle chute). We saw 4 or 5 bears, several bald eagles, vultures, osprey, and lots of fish jumping. | |
