Yakima art opening
This was the public unveiling of the art project worked on by Michael and Chad Gray for over a year. Chad and Michael were commissioned by the Yakima Arts Giving Circle to create a piece of art for downtown Yakima. They created the sculpture "Abundance". Here's the description from the Yakima newspaper article: "When complete, the sculpture will consist of three basalt columns of varying height. Representing the earth, one will be polished and cut at a sharp angle. Another will be etched with waves. A third, the tallest, will be outfitted with a bronze sun and triangular "horn of plenty." The horn will be 6 feet high, made of panels of hand-cast glass. Each piece will represent a fruit grown in the Yakima Valley, from apples and cherries to grapes and peaches. Lights in its core will keep it illuminated. The harvest sun, meanwhile, will be 18 inches wide with a hole in its center. It will reflect the golden and reddish hues of fall."
