Wonderland Trail Day hike, July 2004 My Yakima cousins Ken and Laura and I spent Saturday hiking from the Box Canyon trailhead of Mount Rainier National Park up to Indian Bar on the Wonderland Trail. This is some of the best hiking I've done in MRNP. It starts off with switchbacks through the forest, and eventually breaks out up onto Cowlitz Divide and you get stunning views as you walk along the ridge. Eventually the trail drops down into Indian Bar, a giant cirque with huge cliffs and waterfalls. We saw a herd of mountain goats on the far slopes of Indian Bar, and saw a mama and cub bear on the hike out.
